AN ODE TO 2020:Reflections from The Year

Whew!! What a year 2020 has been been. Who would have thought earlier on that the year was
going to be this challenging. I was quite panicked when I first heard about the global pandemic. All the plans I had for the year had to be on hold for the meantime, or so I thought…
I remember being devastated because of this. We were on lockdown for months, little to no
movements at all, all for our safety. My experience during the lockdown was not easy, I was so
unmotivated and quite unproductive during the lockdown. I was tired of the regular ‘eat, sleep and repeat’ routine. It seemed that things were not getting better and that the lockdown was not going to be lifted in due time. I needed to change my routine and adapt to a rather new lifestyle.

I discovered somethings about myself and skills I could improve on, being one of the social media managers for this platform is one of them *smiles* I also took a couple of legal courses to improve on my skills and knowledge for my chosen career path. Anything to keep myself busy and sane. Gradually, as places began to open up, I managed to secure an internship at a legal chambers. I have to admit that despite this year being so challenging and draining/ difficult, it brought a sense of oneness and togetherness between us.

I have to admit that despite this year being so challenging and draining/ difficult, it brought a sense of oneness and togetherness between us.

As if the year could get worse, then the #EndSARS protest and Lekki toll gate killings happened. With all these, Nigerians stood in solidarity, with one voice, being supportive of one another.
As we’re approaching the end of this year, I am really hoping things continue to get better, hoping a vaccine for Covid is distributed and things go back to normal.
